Woodland Wedding Featured on Wedding Chicks

This week one of my photo shoots was featured by The Wedding Chicks (here).  I had recently collaborated with a brilliant, local team to create this unique, beautifully stylized wedding shoot; all based around the idea of incorporating a fawn and its mama deer.  Jami Pitts of Posies Floral (the florist) had the idea of working with the deer, and Summer Bellessa (the model) and I knew we had to jump on board.  Although working with the deer kept us limited on location space, and granted natural challenges of unpredictable deer behavior by these ever-so-cute deer, we found the process of using deer as inspiration to generate so many beautiful ideas.  It really proved to me how important one piece of inspiration can be, particularly one that is boundary-pushing, nature-based, and naturally beautiful.  Perhaps you don’t imagine adding real deer to your wedding, for fear they would bolt mid-ceremony and take entire sets with them, ha.  😉   However, maybe you’d enjoy putting your wedding on in the woods, or incorporating evergreens and large mushrooms into your decore, or using the color palette of a fawn.  Perhaps, you might enjoy keeping warm with a fur, whether dramatic, or dainty and subtle, or with suede accessories, and rich, forest-inspired colors.  Really, the pieces of inspiration are endless.

Make sure to check out each member of our creative team for more inspiration and beautiful work below.

And really, we couldn’t have done any of this without the amazing help of Pat at the Deer Farm in Williams, Arizona.  She was so willing, so gracious, and so generous with her time, her deer, and her charming and wonderful Deer Farm.  I highly recommend a day trip up there.  And give her our hellos!
